Tired of those annoying spam email messages flooding your mailbox?
So are we! Recently, Cowboy.Net has implemented a filter to block most of these messages from bugging you.
This is how it works...The filter resides on one of Cowboy.Net's servers and scans the content of every incoming email message.
It then decides if the email message is possibly spam or a legitimate message and forwards it on to the customer's email
box or deletes the message before it reaches the customer. You can
decide what you want done with the spam messages; have them deleted or
forwarded to you. More information is displayed on this page
below.
There is also a virus filter on the server that removes the body of email viruses before they reach the customer.
This filter is constantly checking all Cowboy.Net's customers' email for viruses and does not require a subscription, therefore you have a good level of protection from viruses.
However, this does not mean that you should not use antivirus software on your computer.
We recommend that everyone have some sort of up-to-date antivirus software installed.

As for the spam filter, the service costs Cowboy.Net customers only $1 /
month per mailbox! Just give us a call at (877) 372-7704 or
send en email to support@cowboy.net stating your name and email
address(es) that you want the filter to scan and we can immediately install the filter, which takes effect immediately!
There is also a blacklist and whitelist
feature. The blacklist allows you to completely block
emails from particular email addresses or complete domains and the whitelist
allows you to accept email from particular email addresses or
complete domains. For example, if someone that you know is
sending you email that is being blocked by the spam filter, the
email address can be added to the whitelist and the filter will not
block this email address, or if you want to completely block email
being sent from an particular domain (@domain.name) ro email
address, this can be done by adding the domain or address to the
blacklist.

There are three methods for
using the filter:

1. DELETION) You
may have the spam messages deleted on the server once they are
considered spam, and they will not reach your inbox! The
only drawback is, spam filters are not 100% accurate, therefore
a message that isn't spam could possibly be considered
spam. If you are subscribed to any mailing lists,
newsletters, etc., you may want to try option 2. SPAM
FLAGGING.
2. FLAGGING) If there are some email messages
that you receive daily that you think may possibly be considered
a spam message (newsletters, mailing lists, etc.), you can still
have the messages be forwarded to you so you won't have them
filtered! How does this benefit you? Your computer
can be configured to drop the messages into another folder, not
your INBOX, so you can sort through the potential spam messages
later and delete the ones you do not want. This is done by
the spam messages being flagged with a {SPAM?} header in the
subject line of the message. If this is want you want to
use, select your email client below to follow the instructions
to have the messages placed in a separate folder on your
computer. Remember to call us at (877) 372-7704 to
have the filter installed on your account, otherwise your email
will not be filtered.
