Setting up Microsoft Outlook Express

For all revisions of Microsoft Outlook Express

The following instructions will help you set up your email address(es) to be used with Microsoft Outlook Express.  If you have Windows 95 and do not have Outlook Express installed, you will need to upgrade to Windows 98 or later, for Microsoft no longer supports Windows 95.  If you experience problems or have questions, please call Technical Support at (877) 372-7704.

1. Execute this program either from the desktop icon or from the icon in the task bar or click START / RUN / type MSIMN and click OK.  Once opened, click the Tools menu located under the title bar of the Outlook Express window and select Accounts as displayed in the image below.  If you are prompted for a new account setup immediately, skip to Step 3.

2. Click the Mail tab, remove any unused accounts from this window by clicking the Remove option.  Next, click the Add option and click Mail.

3. In this window you will enter in the name you want people to see you as.  For example, John Doe.  Anything can be entered into this field.  Once finished, click Next.

4. In this window you will enter your Cowboy.Net email address, which is your User ID followed by @cowboy.net.  For example, if your user ID is johndoe, your email address would be johndoe@cowboy.net.

Enter all lower-case letters and do not enter spaces.

Click Next when you are finished.

5. Leave the POP3 selection as is and enter mail.cowboy.net in both "incoming and outgoing" mail servers.  Click Next when you are finished.

6. On this next window, your username should already be entered.  Do not change it or add @cowboy.net to your username.  Enter your password as written on your Cowboy.Net application and click Next when you are finished.

7. Here you will just put in a name that will describe the account name, this can be anything you want as long as it tells you that it's for cowboy.net, click Next when you are done.

8. Next, click Finish and you are done!
