Setting up your Internet Connection (PPP Adapter)
 
For Mac OS X

The following instructions will help you set up a Cowboy.Net PPP adapter for Mac OS X. If you experience problems or have questions, please call Technical Support at (877) 372-7704.

  1. Under the Apple Menu, select System Preferences.



  2. Click the Network icon.



  3. Under the Configure popup menu, select Modem Port. Click the TCP/IP tab.


  4. Configure: Using PPP.

  5. The IP Address will be supplied by the PPP server.

  6. Under Domain Name Servers enter the following server addresses:

           208.180.17.9
          
    208.180.17.15

  7. Under the Search domains field, type cowboy.net if you wish, for this is optional.

  8. Click the PPP tab.



  9. Service Provider: cowboy.net.

  10. Telephone Number: Enter the dialup telephone number without the area code for the city you are in.  The following table has the cities and numbers listed:

  1. Alternate Number: optional

  2. Account Name: You must place '@cowboy.net' or '@perryisp.net.1dial.com' (Perry, OK customers) on your username.
    Under Password type in your password.

    Placing a check in Save password will eliminate the need to input a password each time you attempt to connect.

  3. Click the PPP Options button.



  4. The default settings above should be fine. You can configure to connect automatically when launching an internet application, or you can connect manually using the Internet Connect application, which is found in /Applications. Consult Mac Help under the Help menu on your computer for information on Internet Connect.

  5. Dismiss the PPP Options dialog by clicking OK. Click the Modem tab.



  6. Modem: Select the correct modem for your system.

  7. The rest of the settings should be fine, as listed above.

  8. Quit System Preferences from the System Prefs application menu, or by typing Command-Q. Save your changes.  All done!
