Welcome to My Garden

...............................

This garden is my best effort to make a Japanese garden in our yard. I began work on it more than ten years ago and have added to it almost every year since the beginning. While it's a family effort I'm the one who spends the most time there. While it's not a totally authentic Japanese garden it has some of the features of a truly authentic Japanese landscape garden. It has a water feature which consists of a pond and a stream with waterfalls which empties into the pond, hence a water garden feature . It has paths for walking about the garden, hence a stroll garden feature, and it has a teahouse, an arbor, and a stone seat for setting and looking, hence a viewing garden feature. However, it does not represent a larger landscape in miniature which a Japanese garden should do.

There are three toro, or stone lanterns, and a small arched bridge. There's an entrance gate, or mon, and there are gravel and stepping-stone paths. There's also bamboo looking fences, however, they're actually made of cain. There's a shi-shi-o-do-shi which means "deer scare" in Japanese. It's made of bamboo pieces that I brought from Japan.
